In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said; “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9, NIV) As a community of faith, and as individuals, we strive to be authentic disciples of Christ and live into our calling as Children of God.
But faith does not mean that all differences of opinion are swept away. And striving to live God-focused lives does not mean that we are sinless, perfect people. Those differences keep the body strong (just think of what the Apostle Paul wrote) but they can also be the source of discord. And sometimes we (intentionally or unintentionally) sin against God and one another and find ourselves in need of reconciliation.
Beginning in December the Wednesday Night Study will focus on “The Peacemaker”, a book on living into those authentic, Christ-centered, peace-making lives to which Jesus calls each of us. These studies will begin at 6:30pm and last for approximately 1 hour. We will read through the book during the week and then have a guided discussion about the material.
This will be a wonderful and enriching learning experience. I hope you will join us. If you are interested, please contact the church office and let either Jennifer or Alex know that you are planning on attending, so enough books can be purchased for everyone. Unless you make a different request one book per household will be made available to you for $10 (scholarships are available).
We hope to see you on Wednesday evening as we discover an essential component of our faith through readings, discussion and prayer!
