Each week as we begin our worship together we are welcomed into the time and space for our corporate worship with these words:
For over 130 years people from all walks of life have gathered in Marshfield, Missouri and called themselves Disciples of Christ. Today, we have gathered around the banquet table of God, hoping, praying, searching, hurting, and longing to experience God’s love and grace in a new way. Whether you are hurting or whole, seeking or running away, full of doubt or abounding with belief, you are welcome here. This place is a sanctuary, a safe place for each of us to encounter God. Come, let us come together as a community of faith, to worship together the God who; seeks the lost, loves the unlovable, and cradles the untouchable.
But, these are more than just words for us. They represent the extravagant welcome we find in God’s love and serve as a goal for our own attitudes and actions of welcome toward others. You ARE welcome here as we seek after an ever-deeper relationship with God.
